A few notes about the previous Expo's
How many people attended the event in 2005? (remember this was our FIRST year!)
350+. Attendee's come from all over the Twin Cities area, as well as outlying Minnesota & Wisconsin area's.
How many people attended the event in 2006?
600+.
How many people attended the event in 2007?
400+. The numbers this year reflected the 35W Bridge collapse, MEA weekend, and a rare warmer Minnesota day. We were still very busy all day and are planning for a bigger Expo in 2008 at a new location.
How are you advertising?
A large portion of our budget goes to advertising. Newspapers ads and calendar listings in the past have included the Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, Edge Life, Essential Wellness, Whispers of Spirit (duh!), Women's Press, City Pages, and other smaller neighborhood St Paul & Minneapolis papers. Tons of flyers (at area shops, coffeeshops, colleges, coops, libraries, anywhere we can put them basically), monthly & closer to the Expo date, bi-monthly emails, calendar listings on other local & national websites. Lots of word of mouth, about 1500 free tickets are distributed 4 months out, and in 2005 & 2006 we had a few short interviews on FM107 on Echo Bodine's radio show before the expo.
How many exhibitor's do you have?
2005 had 30 exhibitor's, filled 2 weeks before the deadline, with a waiting list. In 2006 and 2007 we had 45 exhibitor's, filled a month before the expo, with a waiting list. Because of the small size of our event, we do limit the number of psychics/intuitives, healers, or product types, so that there are not too many types of overlapping exhibitor's. This provides for optimal abundance for everyone. All spaces are first-come, first-served, juried basis.
Expo Exhibiting Suggestions
by Joan Turck
When you decide to participate in a show, whether it is a small local fair or a large expo, make sure:
- Be set up before the Expo doors open.
- Your booth or table is dressed up nicely: with lights, a banner or two, some signs, a nice table cloth, a few books and sample reports, and so forth. Anything to make your booth atractive. Think of it as your living room. You want visitors to be comfortable and to feel welcome. The most attractive booths draw more visitors.
- Talk to your visitors. Be social and upbeat.
- Have necessary equipment or products on hand.
- Never just sit and stare. Even at slow times -- and every show has slow periods -- act busy, excited, approachable and happy.
- List your products and prices on a sign and on order forms. Many people simply don't like to talk. They just want to sniff around without being bothered.
- Have plenty of flyers and business cards on the table. You will get a number of calls and orders even long after the show is over.
- Promote like crazy prior to the event. Although the event organizer does the majority of the promoting, the exhibitor also has a responsibility to help promote the event and themselves to help make it successful. Networking and word of mouth goes a long way. Just remember, the other exhibitors are also helping to promote the same event.
- Send a flyer or email flyer to everyone you know, friends, clients, etc. Talk to people about the event. If you are not sure how or what to do, call the event organizer.
- Most importantly, state your intention to the Universe or Spirit as clearly and as specifically as possible prior to the event, then RELEASE YOUR EXPECTATIONS of what it should be or how much you should sell. More often than not your most important connections are made after the expo and aren't about money.
- Okay maybe MORE importantly, BE GRATEFUL for whatever transpires, as it is all planned and perfect.
We welcome YOU as an exhibitor to the 4th annual Whispers of Spirit Expo! We do things a little differently at Whispers of Spirit. We follow our intuition and feel each exhibitor's intent and business ethics before acceptance. Exhibitor's are accepted on a juried and first-come, first-served basis. All exhibitor's are chosen by quality and intent, as well as intuition, and will maintain a minimum of overlapping types of services and goods, so as to provide the most abundance for everyone. This is not to deter you from sending in your application, however! We simply strive for a high quality and high energy event!
By being an Expo exhibitor you are representing Whispers of Spirit and its intent of living and working from integrity, respect, and love. Our goal is to attract exhibitor's who resonate with our intent. Most exhibitors (and attendee's) rave about our event, and we have a high return rate of exhibitor's. We INTUITIVELY create this event from a centered point of LOVE, from every aspect of choosing the location, the date, and down to what color paper to print the tickets on. For us, it can't be done any other way and we are proud to share this fact with the community. It is what creates a magical Expo. Exhibiting at the Expo is a great opportunity to get your business more exposure and to meet your community of like-hearted and light-filled people!
As part of our selection of exhibitor's, we do require that Intuitive or Psychic Readers give one of our organizers a short reading by phone or in person. It can be a mini-reading, a small sampling of your services, so that we can get a better feel for your process and to maintain integrity and ethics within the Expo. We will contact you within 2 weeks of receiving your application to set up an appointment.
Check back next year for info on 2009!!
